Endometrial receptivity array

Endometrial receptivity array (ERA) is a test used to determine the optimal time for implantation of an embryo during in vitro fertilization (IVF) treatment.

Overview

Endometrial receptivity array (ERA) is a test used to determine the optimal time for implantation of an embryo during in vitro fertilization (IVF) treatment. The test involves taking a small sample of tissue from the lining of the uterus (endometrium) and analyzing the expression levels of genes that are involved in the implantation process.

The ERA test is typically performed on women who have undergone multiple unsuccessful IVF cycles, and is designed to help identify any abnormalities in the endometrial receptivity that may be preventing the embryo from implanting successfully. The test can also be used to personalize the timing of the embryo transfer by identifying the specific window of time during the menstrual cycle when the endometrium is most receptive to implantation.

To perform the ERA test, a biopsy of the endometrial tissue is taken using a thin, flexible catheter and analyzed in a laboratory. The expression levels of genes involved in the implantation process are then compared to a reference database to determine the optimal timing for embryo transfer. Based on the results of the test, the timing of the embryo transfer can be personalized to increase the chances of a successful pregnancy.

The ERA test is a relatively new technique and is still being studied to determine its effectiveness. While some studies have shown promising results in improving pregnancy rates in certain groups of women undergoing IVF, more research is needed to determine its overall effectiveness and utility in clinical practice.
